October 3, 2013

Blue Öyster Cult will once again sail the deep blue sea on the 2015 Rock Legends III cruise!

The cruise is scheduled for February 19-23 2015, not 2014, so you have time to start saving and arranging your vacation time in order to enjoy BÖC and 20+ other classic rock bands on a 5-day cruise to Nassau, Bahamas.

Each band performs 3 times, so you won't miss a chance to see any of the artists.

Although they have not yet announced the final band line-up, booking is open, and they even offer a refund option (available through January 20) if you don't end up liking the final band line-up.

First 10 BOC albums released in Vinyl Replica format

September 15, 2013

Culture Factory, a company that specializes in reissuing CDs in a "vinyl replica" format, has released the first 10 BÖC albums in their "Rock Legends" series.

The CDs have been remastered and the packaging is aimed to be an exact replica of the original vinyl album, down to the CD itself, which looks like a tiny LP--black with "grooves" and a facsimile of the original LP label. Like a Japanese album, these releases also have have a removable "Obi" (paper band) that wraps around the CD with some information about each release.

For information on the CDs, please see their website.

Allen Lanier and Patti Smith rehearse Career of Evil for the 40th Anniversary Show

August 16, 2013

Longtime BÖC manager Steve Schenck posted this on BÖC's facebook page:

"When we were in the planning stages for last year's 40th Anniversary celebration show one of the "surprises" was going to be Allen joining the band on stage with guest vocalist Patti Smith, performing one of the many BÖC songs for which Patti had written the lyric.

Sadly, the show was postponed by Hurricane Sandy, and Patti was out of the country on the rescheduled date.

I captured a rehearsal take on my cell phone, and Patti has been gracious enough to let us share it with everyone.

So here's Eric, Buck, Richie, Jules, and Kasim joined by Allen and Patti for "Career of Evil."

Allen Glover Lanier, 1946-2013

August 14, 2013

We have extremely sad news to report.
We've lost our friend and bandmate Allen Lanier.

Allen succumbed to complications from C.O.P.D.
He is survived by his wife Dory, sister Mary Anne and mother Martha.

Although he retired from touring in 2006 Allen returned to the stage for what turned out to be his final appearance, reuniting with BÖC at the 40th Anniversary show in New York this past November.

DFTR sweet man. We love you and miss you.

Buck and Richie Appear on new Eyeblinder album by the Lizardz

Buck Dharma and Richie Castellano make cameos on the new album, "Eyeblinder" from Wisconsin band, The Lizardz.

The album mastering and manufacturing just had a successful Kickstarter, and the album will be available on vinyl and CD by August.

"Back From Milwaukee" with Buck Dharma.

Blue Oyster Cult First Ever Australian Tour

March 5, 2013

Blue Oyster Cult may be the ultimate 'cult' band. Revered by punks, metal heads, sci-fi geeks and horror movie fans alike, B.O.C. have carved out a 40-year career via a string of complex hard rock albums and killer live shows. The author Steven King adores them and so does Dave Graney. Their best known track Don't Fear The Reaper, was a U.S. top twenty hit in 1976 and the album it came from, Agents Of Fortune achieved platinum status (featuring a collaboration with songstress Patti Smith) while their overall catalogue sales are in excess of 24 million. They also provided Radio Birdman with the album title Radios Appear, a lyric taken from the track Dominance and Submission from the Blue Oyster Cult album Secret Treaties.

Most recently B.O.C. have released The Complete Columbia Albums Collection, a 16 CD/ 1 DVD box set comprising all their studio albums from 1972 - 1988; three live albums; a rarities disc and the appropriately named radio broadcast collection: Radios Appear.

The live albums, starting with 1975's On Your Feet or On Your Knees, clearly demonstrate BÖC's strength as a live act; they're a bracingly powerful band, the rock solid support of the rhythm-bass-drums embellished by Buck Dharma's stinging guitar leads. Already announced as a co-headliners at the 2013 Dig It Up! Feel are now proud to announce headline shows for Blue Oyster Cult in Sydney & Melbourne. For the these two special performances, B.O.C. will perform the entire show, no support - like wow!

This will be the first-ever Australian tour for Blue Oyster Cult and it's all thanks to Hoodoo Gurus.
